From 31 July to 2 August 2026, the village of Tassonarla, in the municipality of Tresana, will host the fifth edition of TassonArt: the open-air contemporary art exhibition which this year focuses on the theme ‘Earth. Soul and Matter’. Over the years, this event has established itself as one of the region’s most original cultural projects, successfully bringing together art, landscape, community and critical reflection.
The exhibition will open on Friday 31 July at 5.15 pm and will wind its way through the entire village, transforming Tassonarla into an open-air exhibition space where sculpture, painting, installation, performance and contemporary research engage in dialogue with the village’s architecture, nature and the collective memory of the Lunigiana community. The 2026 edition stands out for the presence of leading figures from the international art scene and for a programme that weaves together exhibitions, educational activities and in-depth analysis.
Called upon to engage with the theme ‘Earth, Soul and Matter’, the curators – Samantha Ghironi, Mattia Lapperier and Alessio Manfredi – have found a common ground by bringing together artists from different generations, backgrounds and artistic languages, united by a desire to explore the relationship between landscape, memory and identity, whilst fostering the ability to create new interconnections.
Among the most eagerly awaited events at TassonArt 2026 is the dialogue between contemporary art and theatre, featuring director Andrea Battistini, who will lead the performers from 365GRADIwishakespeare-Lab Massa in the performance ‘Walk_in_Shakespeare’, scheduled for the evening of Saturday 1 August at 7.00 pm. This project stems from the convergence of theatre and the exhibition route of the open-air exhibition: the performers will guide the audience on a journey of discovery through the village and the artworks, creating an immersive experience within the atmospheres and visions of Shakespeare’s world.
Furthermore, TassonArt 2026 will also devote considerable space to education and active participation, with creative workshops aimed at different age groups, starting with children, a photography competition, book presentations and a symposium led by students from the Art School, running throughout all three days of the event.
Now in its fifth edition, TassonArt reaffirms its commitment to being a cultural project aimed at fostering new, proactive and innovative communities of the future, whilst never losing sight of its cultural roots. An experience which, starting from a village in the Lunigiana, chooses to view the contemporary world as a space for exploration, shared growth and the construction of new cultural landscapes.
