The church, which was erected in 884 by Adalberto di Toscana, with the castle and hospital, was the first of many churches rebuilt from the remains of an alleged Roman settlement. In 1050, it was dedicated to Saint Caprasio, a hermit saint from the Lérins islands, off the coast of Provence. Its grave has remained hidden for centuries until recent excavations gave us back an extraordinary archaeological and cultural site. It houses the Museum and the Grave of Saint Caprasio.
