Once upon a time… Albian 1266
In Albiano Magra (Aulla), re-enactment of the founding of the village under the direction of Pro Loco ViviAmoAlbiano, which is now in its ninth year.
The Festival, to this day, is the only medieval event that takes place in the Municipality of Aulla and attracts thousands of visitors every year.
The foundation of the town dates back to the year 1266, when the Bishop of Luni granted the inhabitants of Albio, a nucleus that was located in a hilly area, the possibility of moving further downstream, near the Magra River and on the ancient goods road. The original deed of cession of the site, by the Bishop of Luni, is found in the Pelavicino Codex .
The three-day festival revives the magical medieval atmosphere that middle age that still attracts our senses with the power of its contrasts: sumptuous ceremonies and mournful poverty, flamboyant clothing and somber atmospheres. Skilled craftsmen and ancient workshops, fighting and juggling.
Stalls and craft workshops are set up in the streets of the village, lit by flashlights and candles. Present will be artisans from theassociation of arts and crafts MANI E MENTI-Laboratori didattici di arti e mestieri della Lunigiana, and ceramist Michelangelo Leoni Naibì Aostri with his workshop. The arena will feature performances by medieval companies that engage audiences of young and old such as“I Giullari del Carretto “, an authentic circus school with an ancient family tradition that will amaze young and old alike, the Compagnia Della Spada, a historical group from Lunigiana, who will perform spectacular fights with heavy two-handed swords. Also present will be I Falconieri Del Granducato Di Toscana, an association founded in 2012 that deals with the popularization of the art of falconry and whose activities offer the opportunity to learn more about the world of falconry. A real camp will be set up by the group of the Spino Fiorito Archers with whom you can try your hand at the ancient art of archery.
The festival will also offer a large food area for refreshment for participants, with typical local products. A shuttle service will be available for those who have difficulty reaching the historic center.
