Ihe ten-stage journey this season of ALESSANDRO BORGHESE 4 RISTORANTI, the original Sky production produced by Banijay Italia, concludes with the episode airing tomorrow, Thursday, June 25, on Sky Uno and NOW TV. The last stop on this journey takes us to a borderland between Liguria and Tuscany, where chef Alessandro Borghese travels in his tinted-glass van in search of the best restaurant in a village in Lunigiana.
Here, perched on rolling hills, stand some of the most beautiful villages in Italy, stone villages surrounded by forests, beech and chestnut trees, which also enjoy views of the sea. Magical places where small family units live, carrying on culinary traditions that taste a little bit of Tuscany and a little bit of Liguria. “Curious” dishes with an ancient flavor such as the panigacci, the torte d’erbi, the lasagne bastarde, the sgabei and the testaroli al pesto are protagonists at the table. The food satisfies you, while the borgo envelops you. But what are the restaurants in the boroughs like today? Do they still breathe the magic of days gone by? Chef Borghese is here to find out because four restaurateurs have decided to challenge each other, lunch and dinner, to win the title of best restaurant in a Lunigiana hamlet.
Competing for the title-in the final episode tomorrow, Thursday, June 25, at 9:15 p.m. on Sky Uno and always available on demand, viewable on Sky Go, on smartphones, tablets and PCs, including on the go in European Union countries, and streaming on NOW TV-are: Silvana with La Corte Restaurant at Pontebosio Castle, Jonathan with the Trattoria Quinta Terra, Luca with theGreen Mountain Farmhouse, and, finally, Francesca with the Agriturismo Ca’ Vidè Restaurant. Thebonus item is sgabei, a type of leavened dough that can be used as bread or to accompany cured meats and cheeses.
The mechanism of the challenge remains unchanged: four restaurateurs from the same area compete to determine who among them is the best in a given category. Each restaurateur invites the other three to dinner, who, accompanied by Chef Borghese, comment and vote with a score from 0 to 10 on the location, menu, service and bill of the restaurant hosting them. Up for grabs for the winner of each episode is the title of best restaurant and a financial contribution of 5 thousand euros to invest in their business.
Each dinner is preceded by Chef Borghese’s scrupulous inspection of the restaurant’s kitchen. An inspection that over the course of the dinner will focus on the wait staff, tested on reception, table service, description of the dish and wine. Only at the end do we find out chef Borghese’s judgment, whose votes can confirm or overturn the entire ranking that awards the best restaurant of the episode. In addition, Alessandro has a bonus of 5 points that allows him to judge one more element and makes the challenge even more unpredictable and exciting.
All restaurants participating in the program are identifiable through an Alessandro Borghese 4 Restaurants “vignette” displayed outside, a network of establishments tested by those in the know: the restaurateurs themselves.
